How to add a tool inventory to your website

Put a live tool inventory on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix or another website. Tool owners update their own listings in ToolPool.Garden, and the embedded pool updates automatically.

You'll need to be an admin of the pool and able to edit the website where you want the tool inventory to appear. The embed code is ready to copy and paste.

Sign in to ToolPool.Garden, open Tool Pools and choose the pool you run. On the pool page, click Embed next to Invites.

If your pool is private, open Pool settings and turn on “Show this pool publicly,” then return to the pool page and click Embed again. The embedded view uses the same public content available to non-members. Pool members continue to find member information and unlisted listings on ToolPool.Garden.
If embedding is off, select the Embedding switch to turn it on. The preview appears once the pool is public and open. If the pool is closed, return to its page and follow the reopening instructions there.

Choose the defaults that suit the page where the pool will appear.
Choose the Default section, Default color mode and Default listing order. If Tools or Requests will open first, you can preselect filters for that section; the filters reset when a visitor switches sections. Then set the iframe's Width and Height, and select Update preview and code to apply your choices.

The preview updates before you copy anything to your website.
Select the clipboard button beside the embed code. ToolPool.Garden copies the complete code, including the options you chose, ready to paste into your website.
In your website's page editor, add the block used for custom code. Choose Custom HTML in WordPress, a Code block in Squarespace, or Embed Code and then Embed HTML in Wix. Paste the code into the block.
Save or apply the block, then preview the page. Publish it when the embedded pool looks right. If it feels cramped, return to the Embed page, increase the height and copy the updated code. A width of 100% lets the inventory fit phones as well as wide screens.

What visitors see in the embedded pool

Visitors see the pool's name, description and logo, then browse its public tools, skills, requests and recent activity. They can search and sort each listing section, and filter Tools or Requests. Listings open their full public pages on ToolPool.Garden in a new tab. Each section has its own previous and next controls when there is another batch to browse.

The embedded view loads when embedding is on and the pool is public and open. You can leave the code on your website if the pool becomes private, disabled or paywalled; it will load again when the pool is available.

Turn the Embedding switch off from the same Embed page to stop the pool view from loading on every website where it has been embedded.
